Friday morning saw Marca publish an optimistic article regarding Arsenal’s potential signing of Thomas Lemar.
The Spanish newspaper explained the player was ‘well on track’ to ending up at the Emirates, and ‘all roads were leading to’ the attacker bolstering Mikel Arteta’s squad.
It was lacking detail, but there was some relative confidence the Frenchman would eventually leave Atlético Madrid to alleviate their wage bill, which has now been backed by El Chiringuito.
The Spanish show, via their presenter Josep Pedrerol, report that Lemar is ‘close to signing’ for Arsenal, as the Spanish club need some money to help Diego Simeone out, who wants a striker.
They’ve targeted Edinson Cavani as the player to help out Atlético, and he will come at a price, one they cannot afford right now.
That’s why Lemar is being sacrificed after his €72m transfer from Monaco failed to provide the results required.
There are no real details, just like in Marca, but you’d expect Atlético to want to make most of their money back.
