Following a strange rumour that he could be signing for Everton, it appears Stéphane Sessègnon could be close to a free transfer move back to France instead.
According to Mercato365, the former West Bromwich Albion forward travelled to Montpellier on Wednesday to discuss with the Ligue 1 club.
The French side have been trying to add to their squad after the transfer window shut, but failed attempts to lure Samba Diakité and Mohamed Sissoko has caused them to turn their attention to the former Paris Saint-Germain attacking midfielder, and make him their priority.
In fact, the website claim everything could go rather quickly for the Benin international, and once a few personal issues are sorted, the deal could be announced.
This all sounds a lot more believable than discussions with Everton, that’s for sure.
During his time in the Premier League, shared between Sunderland and West Brom, the 32-year-old picked up 25 goals and 25 assists in 166 appearances.
