Currently on a free transfer after being released from Créteil at the end of last season, Aurélien Montaroup is still waiting on answer from clubs to know where he will be playing next season.

Born in Brittany, the 30-year-old left-back is waiting on an answer from Brest, but he also revealed to Le Télégramme he had a few offers from English clubs, including Oldham, Milton Keynes, Bradford and Bury.

However, that’s not what we’re going to focus on, as the player also let slip that the agent he is currently dealing with regarding English transfers is also working on a deal for a former West Brom player.

He said: “My agent over there tells me: ‘Don’t worry, it’ll happen’. But I’m still waiting! He’s currently finalising a transfer with Stéphane Sessègnon, that’s why he’s not taking care of me. There’s times where I get fed up, but I can’t have a go at him, because he’s still trying to get something done…”

That’s the quote, but Le Télégramme also included something in it as an ‘ed’ that appears to be their own information, which is that Everton is the club the agent is negotiating with regarding a transfer for Stéphane Sessègnon.

The 32-year-old attacking midfielder has been without a club since leaving West Brom in July, and we haven’t seen anything about Everton interest in the Benin international, meaning either Le Télégramme have learnt something, or made it all up.

Considering they were just talking to someone who shares the same agent as the former Sunderland star, we’ll go for the former.
