Girona announced on Tuesday that they’d completed the signing of Seydou Doumbia.
The striker had rescinded his contract with Sporting, and was free to join who he wanted.
Catalan newspaper Sport report this doesn’t mean Girona are done in the market for strikers, because there’s a reasonable chance Cristhian Stuani or Portu could leave.
Portu is of interest to Sevilla, and former Middlesbrough player Stuani ‘doesn’t lack proposals for a change of air’.
Should one of those go then Girona would have to very quickly move back into the market, and Sport say that’s why the La Liga club are lining up options.
Whilst it’s made clear there’s more than one, the only option named in the report is Middlesbrough’s Martin Braithwaite. There’s no claim of a potential loan or permanent fee, or even of talks, so things would have to move quickly considering the Spanish window closes on Friday.
If Stuani takes up one of those offers, again quickly, then his former club could be getting a fax through.
