Last month, we covered an interview given by the former Manchester City winger Jorge Íntima, who revealed he had a photoshopped picture of him with David Silva before he could meet his idol in person.
The 21-year-old, who’s also known as Jorginho, isn’t only an interesting character in Portugal because of his past at Manchester City. He’s actually impressing in the local league, marking up four goals and two assists in only five games.
He scored a hat-trick this weekend against Moreirense, so A Bola made a short story telling how he arrived at Arouca.
Portugal U-17 coach Helio Sousa wasn’t surprised the player’s hat-trick, and talked about his first call up for Portugal’s youth levels: “We found him through our scouting, which allows us to know the information on potential called up players, also from abroad.
“His technical quality was evident and after two or three days in tests we decided we should called him up to Toreneio do Porto, where he did very well.”
Arouca are currently in eighth place in the Portuguese league table, with Jorginho being their top scorer. That’s a pretty impressive mark for a player who only made five appearances this season, so maybe Manchester City have lost a player with some potential.
The winger spent four years in England, leaving Manchester City for free last January.
