Former Leeds United assistant manager Pep Clotet has revealed that current boss Marcelo Bielsa is the man who has had the ‘biggest impact’ on his career so far
Bielsa, as you’re likely aware, is something of divisive figure in the world of football after a varied and long career.
On one side of the debate sit those who love the Argentine coach, such as those at Leeds, who quickly fell in love with Bielsa when he arrived and have now raised him to idol status at Elland Road after he took them back to the Premier League.
There are those who feel very differently about the Leeds boss, though, with some even going as far as to label him a fraud.
It’s a debate that never really ends, despite football luminaries such as Pep Guardiola extolling the virtues of the Leeds boss.
The Manchester City coach is a big fan of his counterpart at Elland Road and it seems Clotet, who worked as Leeds assistant manager from July 2016 to June 2017, can be added to his list of admirers.
“I could name so many names because since I was very young at Barcelona I studied the role of the coach obsessively and took tactical ideas from many coaches,” he told Tuttomercatoweb.
“Then I travelled around Europe and got as many inspirations, but if I have to mention someone in particular I would say Marcelo Bielsa.
“(He’s) the man who had the biggest impact on my way of seeing football. I’m talking about the work as much as the method.”
