Napoli are looking at Arsenal’s Jakub Kiwior after having failed to sign him in the winter market.
That’s according to Il Mattino, who say the Serie A leaders are prioritising signing a new centre-back in the summer window.
Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna has been working behind the scenes to identify targets in foreign leagues.
For defence, the Naples club have ‘forcefully returned’ for the 25-year-old, who joined Arsenal from Spezia in January 2023.
The Poland international hasn’t been a first-choice centre-back for Mikel Arteta. His contract lasts until 2028, but the defender is considering returning to Italy in the upcoming window.
Kiwior’s agent has been approached by multiple Italian clubs, including AC Milan. Despite this, Il Mattino state Antonio Conte’s side have a ‘preferential lane’, meaning an advantage to sign him.
That’s because Napoli can offer Champions League football next season and had showed interest before he joined the Gunners.
Arsenal refused to let Kiwior join Napoli on loan with an option to buy in January. This is pointed out by the newspaper, who state the Premier League club are now asking €35m for the defender.
Napoli have identified Bologna’s Sam Beukema as the first alternative to Kiwior.
