A ‘football lawyer’ has been brought in to oversee Tyrell Malacia’s move to Manchester United after complications arose regarding his agent.

That’s according to Feyenoord website 1908, who say the deal is ‘some way off’ from being completed.

Reports in England today made it clear that Malacia’s proposed move to Manchester United had been delayed after it emerged his current agent was not authorised to negotiate the transfer.

United have already reached a full agreement with Feyenoord over a €15m plus €2m deal to sign the defender, with it reported in the Netherlands yesterday that the player has also held talks over personal terms.

However, it has now emerged the player wishes to use a different agent to his current one, leading to complications in the transfer.

1908 report the same, stating that a deal is ‘still some way off’ as the transfer will be arranged by a different agent to his current one.

That’s led to a ‘football lawyer’ being brought in to oversee the deal and finalise his move to Manchester United as soon as possible.

What the potential issue is with his current agent, Ali Dursun, isn’t mentioned, but it appears the player has decided to go in a different direction regardless.

However, the general manager at Lyon, who were close to signing Malacia before United moved, Vincent Ponsot, has hinted at issues behind the scenes in comments today.

“If we don’t have the means to recruit, we can’t bring in players of this level… Here, it’s not a question of means,” RMC Sport report him saying.

“The institution is always stronger than any player. We have requests from the football world that we don’t sometimes make.

“I think that the president is happy to be able to sleep peacefully at night and not have the police arrive in the morning. We will never put the institution at risk for a player.

“The demands we have, the amount of commission… We don’t do that. It’s true that it sometimes scuppers deals, but we’ll find a good left-back.

“For us, it’s closed. Because, that’s it. The probity of the club is more important. We’re proud to work for a club like that.”
