Arsenal should consider a move for Barcelona’s Andrea Christensen this summer to provide a good back up option to William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes.

That’s according to Francis Dickoh and Peter Kjaer, whose quotes on the player have been relayed by Tipsbladet.

Arsenal appear set for a big summer transfer window after the recent appointment of Andrea Berta as their new director of football seemingly set the ball rolling.

They’ve already been linked with big moves for the likes of Nico Williams and Viktor Gyökeres, but they are unlikely to be the only players linked in the coming months.

Adding defensive options may be on their list, particularly if the likes of Jakub Kiwior were to depart. The Poland international has been linked with a return to Italy after something of a frustrating spell at the Emirates.

Christensen could be a low-cost option as he’s entered the final year of his contract at Barcelona and appears to be out of their plans after just one appearance in La Liga this season.

Dickoh and Kjaer both believe he’d be a smart signing for Arsenal, explaining their logic ahead of the clash with Everton on Saturday afternoon.

“I would look at “AC” as a fourth priority – as a backup,” said DIckoh.

“Andreas Christensen knows the Premier League, is a Champions League winner and he knows London. I don’t think he has a future at FC Barcelona.

“I think he will be perfect in the way you do it, in terms of the build-up play. He’s flexible and can play several positions in the back line and in the six.”

“He’s a fantastic, wonderful player who fits well at Arsenal,” added Kjaer.

“The only thing is the injuries… It’s crazy to build something with a player who you think if he plays 80 per cent of the games, then we’ve done well. There’s just a lot of doubt about that, unfortunately. I think clubs are starting to look at that too.”
