A week ago, Fichajes.net reported Rafael Benítez’s desire to strengthen Everton’s centre-back position this summer has made him identify Barcelona’s Clément Lenglet as a target.
Apart from the Frenchman, Kalidou Koulibaly is also on the radar of the Merseyside club and they have taken steps to sign the Napoli defender.
That’s what Calciomercato are reporting and they add the ‘first offer has arrived from Everton in the last few hours’.
Journalist Daniele Longo provides more details of the Toffees’ offer in the video and states the English club’s proposal is around €35m plus bonuses.
The English club’s proposal, however, is ‘not a satisfactory offer’ for the Serie A side as they ‘ask for €60m’ to let the Senegal international leave the club.
Longo says it remains to be seen whether or not Everton will return with an improved offer in the coming days for the 30-year-old.
Koulibaly has been linked with a move to the Premier League over the past few summer windows, but he hasn’t yet left the Naples club.
With the difference of €25m between Everton’s offer and Napoli’s demands, the defender may not be able to get a move away from the Italian club.
