It’s been a while since we’ve covered something Vincenzo Morabito has said, and there’s a reason for that.
The “FIFA agent” is the go-to man for the Italian press when they want a comment regarding transfers, and it’s led to some bold (and not so bold) assertions.
A lot of them came during the Simone Zaza at West Ham debacle, but he’s also come out with stuff like ‘Wayne Rooney was offered to Napoli’ and claims he was involved in a potential €90m Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Arsenal deal back in 2016.
Either way, we wouldn’t call him the most reliable source of information when it comes to transfers.
We say all this because Morabito recently had a chat with RMC Sport (an Italian radio station, not the French one) where he discussed Felipe Anderson to West Ham.
He said, relayed by TuttoMercatoWeb: “West Ham-Felipe Anderson won’t get done. The request of €40m is too high and the English, who offered €35m, will move onto other targets. I recommend West Ham to give up on Felipe Anderson: Lotito is impossible as a representative.”
Given the Italian media were this morning reporting of talks still ongoing between the two sides with Jordan Lukaku also a target, this seems a little off.
The fact that he’s recommending West Ham to step away suggests they haven’t done that just yet.
Bottom line: we wouldn’t take this as gospel. At all.
