Turkey’s Hürriyet claim Fenerbahce are closing in on Chelsea forward Diego Costa, and a deal is looking likely before the Turkish transfer deadline.
Hurriyet believe the plan is for the Chelsea player to arrive in Istanbul later today to complete a medical, ahead of his proposed move to the Turkish giants. It’s also reported Fenerbahce will pay a large percentage of Costa’s current Chelsea salary.
Milliyet also report on the latest developments involving Costa’s move to Turkey, and claim Ricardo Cardoso, a representative of the player, has been in Istanbul for the past three days.
The Turkish newspaper say Fenerbahce are planning to offer the Chelsea outcast a season long loan deal, but NtvSpor’s Onur Tugrul reports six months is also being discussed with the player.
One thing seems certain, Fenerbahce are very much interested in bringing Costa to the club before the Turkish transfer window closes tomorrow. If they manage to sign him before tomorrow’s deadline, even on loan, it’ll be one of the biggest transfers in Turkish football history.
Turkey’s press are very excitable when it comes to transfers, so that always has to be taken into account. However, Chelsea sending Costa to Fenerbahce until the next window, getting some money to help with wages and getting him away from the club, doesn’t sound the worst idea.
