Speaking to the media today, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag talked about Altay Bayindir.
With the goalkeeper still to make his debut for the Red Devils, the coach explained the reasons why he’s been picking Andre Onana in all competitions they’re in.
It turns out that Bayindir also spoke to the press, in an interview with Turkey’s Bein Sports, with quotes relayed by Asist Analiz.
The Turkish explained he’s happy to be working with Ten Hag, saying he feels appreciated at the club.
“Our coach is very good. He is very positive. The things he thinks about the most are those hidden, small details. It always feels good to be where you are wanted. So I thank our coach.”
Manchester United saw David De Gea leave the club for free this summer, and they ended up spending on two new goalkeepers.
The Red Devils first completed the signing of Andre Onana in a €52.5m deal from Inter Milan, and with Ten Hag wanting a backup option, they went for the signing of Bayindir from Fenerbahce, spending just €5m to take him from the Turkish side.
Onana has made nine appearances for the club so far, and with the struggles in his first weeks at the club, it does make sense that the manager wants him to settle well before Bayindir gets a chance.
