At this point, there are a few different slants emerging in Italy when it comes to Chelsea’s attempts to sign Dusan Vlahovic, with Romelu Lukaku potentially going the other way.
There are some negative ones, and some more positive ones, with Corriere dello Sport’s story on Friday falling in the second bracket.
They have kept the faith throughout all this, despite some claiming the talks were off, but they firmly believe that Chelsea will return with a new offer.
The Italian newspaper make it very clear that while there might have been whispers of negotiations stalling, they are in fact ‘resisting and advancing’.
While it’s not yet time to set off the famous white smoke, a ‘decisive week’ is about to begin, as Chelsea are ready to offer €20m + €8m in bonuses as well as Romelu Lukaku, while Juventus want €35m ‘at least’.
This is ‘not an unbridgeable abyss’, especially since the Belgian is not interested in any team other than the Turin side.
Down their end, Chelsea are ‘desperately looking for a striker’ after the injury to Christopher Nkunku, and while Mauricio Pochettino might have asked his club to enquire about Neymar, he is also ready to welcome Vlahovic ‘with open arms’.
It’s revealed also revealed that Todd Boehly and the CEO of Juventus, Maurizio Scanavino, will talk again ‘at the beginning of the week’.
The Chelsea brass, including the owner, ‘took a few hours to analyse each move’, but the feeling is that they ‘will present themselves with a higher offer, reaching at least €30m’.
That’s when Juventus ‘could falter’, and Lukaku can ‘finally rejoice’.
