Arsenal

It’s not everyday that Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal are all mentioned in the same article, but when it comes to 13-year-old Hannibal Mejbri, it’s a necessity.

The young attacking midfielder, currently playing at the prestigious Clairefontaine academy in France, is, according to Le Parisien, a target for the five big Premier League clubs, even if they cannot officially sign him until he’s 16.

Speaking to his father, Lofti, the French newspaper look at how a family deals with such an interest in their child, which, by the sound of things, isn’t very easy. Screen Shot 2016-11-22 at 18.44.00

Ensuring he gets a good education first and foremost so that he doesn’t end up with a ‘pea for a brain’ even if he does make it in football, Lofti Mejbri has also made it clear that his son would stay at Clairefontaine until 2018, seeing no benefit in him signing for a club at his age.

Rumours started circulating that Arsenal had managed to snap up Hannibal Mejbri, yet his father is adamant this isn’t the case.

He told Le Parisien: “That’s false. Arsenal is the only club where Hannibal had a trial, but we didn’t sign anything. We’re free, and we will be until he finishes his time at Clairefontaine.”

The Gunners had spotted the now 13-year-old two years ago during a youth tournament when an Arsene Wenger scout flew out especially to watch the attacking midfielder, which is when first contact was made.

Already sponsored by Adidas, Mejbri looks like he might have a bright future ahead of him, surrounded by an entourage that will enable him to succeed at the right pace without skipping vital steps.

As for an agent to help them when the time comes, the wonderkid and his family are happy to wait for the right person to come along, taking advice from an ex-footballer (who wasn’t named) for the time being.
