On Monday, we covered the quotes from Carlo Ancelotti confirming that Napoli will be signing David Ospina from Arsenal on a permanent deal at the end of the season.
The revelation was made in a press conference, where the Italian boss has claimed that the goalkeeper is staying at the club for next season ‘regardless of the matches he will do or not’ until the summer.
Now Ospina’s father Hernan has spoken to Radio Marte, and claims to have been taken by surprise by Ancelotti’s quotes. He says he knew nothing about a permanent move, although he calls it ‘wonderful news’.
“I was not aware of Ancelotti’s words, to be honest: I didn’t know anything about it. It’s, however, wonderful news, I hope it becomes reality,” Hernan Ospina told Radio Marte (via Per Sempre Napoli).
“It’s nice for a father to know something like that because the boy is very well in Naples and wants to stay. David is focused, working with dedication and waiting for the opportunities the manager offers him. Ospina has had room at Napoli, has been well received by the people and is peaceful. Napoli are an important opportunity for my son, who has the chance to show his qualities in the international scenario, we are happy.”
Ospina joined Napoli on a season-long deal from Arsenal, with the Italian side having the option to buy him permanently. He’s had 18 appearances for the club so far, and has been taking turns between the bench and the starting spot.
