Leeds United’s Victor Orta has granted a lengthy interview to ABC Sevilla, and the Elland Road club weren’t the focus of it.
The club director perhaps made it a condition of the chat that he didn’t talk about Marcelo Bielsa’s exit, Jesse Marsch replacing him, or the battle Leeds United have been in for Premier League survival.
Instead, he focused more on former club Sevilla and their efforts to win the Europa League this season, with the final of the competition being held at the club’s Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium.
The competition is an even bigger deal for the La Liga side this season, because of that home advantage in the final, and there’s pressure building on the team to make sure they get there.
The Spanish newspaper quote him as saying: “There is a shopping centre around the West Ham stadium where Sevilla fans can have a few beers in the three or four classic pubs. I tell Sevilla fans to go by public transport because getting there by car is a drama due to London traffic. It is a very high quality stadium, it was the Olympic stadium in London. It is practically new. There are hospitality for VIP tickets in which I would tell you that very few stadiums in the world have that level.
“We put 8,000 followers there in the FA Cup and with the substitutes, and in the Premier League, 10,000. Our fanbase travels a lot.”
Again, surprisingly, ABC didn’t seem to attempt to expand on that with further Leeds United questioning.
