Having made his senior team debut in August, Gavi established himself as a first team regular at Barcelona, featuring 34 times in all competition this season.

The midfielder’s fine displays for the La Liga side have caught the attention of important clubs and this includes Liverpool.

His current deal at the Camp Nou runs down in 2023 and the Catalan club have failed to tie the 17-year-old down to a new deal so far.

Earlier this week, Mundo Deportivo stated renewal talks between the two parties have been ‘stranded’. It was also reported Liverpool are in the picture to sign Xavi Hernández’s star.

Spanish journalist Gerard Romero now provides a fresh update on the Merseyside club’s interest in the Spain international.

Romero claims the youngster ‘has a proposal’ from Jürgen Klopp’s side that includes a salary of around €6m per year.

Sport on Wednesday also state the player has ‘offers from greats of Europe’, but there is no mention of any clubs in the report.

Gavi’s ‘intention’ is to continue with his current employer and to do that, Barca are ‘trying to fulfil his wishes’.

It remains to be seen whether or not Xavi’s side will be successful in securing the player’s future beyond 2023.
