This week, reports from the Italian media claimed Newcastle United were about to try to sign Khvicha Kvaratskhelia from Napoli.
It was claimed the Magpies had a €90m offer ‘ready’ to be presented for the winger, even though the Serie A side were expected to demand more for his sale.
Now as Italian outlet Il Mattino comes up to talk about Newcastle’s search for a winger, they claim the Magpies are actually not coming for Kvaratskhelia.
The outlet points out that with the likely departure of Allan Saint-Maximin, the English club are indeed going after a replacement.
Still, there should be ‘no thrust’ from Newcastle for Kvaratskhelia, as they should turn their attentions to Leicester City’s Harvey Barnes instead.
It’s once again made clear that Napoli don’t want to let their star go this summer, and added that fans ‘can sleep soundly’ now that he’s going nowhere.
There’s still some mystery on whether the Serie A champions will manage to hold Victor Osimhen this summer, and in case he left along with Kvaratskhelia, then that’d be a huge blow for the club. That’s why a journalist recently said he’d ‘chain himself up‘ if that happened.
