Leaving Arsenal on a free transfer after spending six years there, Santi Cazorla has already spoken about how his exit from the London club was a sore point for him.
The midfielder left in the summer of the 2018, but hadn’t played a game since October 2016 due to a serious Achilles tendon injury.
Once his contract at the Emirates ran out, the veteran moved to Villarreal where he has managed to rekindle his career and is a prominent member of the first-team squad at 35 years of age.
On Thursday, Cazorla took part in an event set up by the La Liga side, and he once again discussed his heartache regarding the way he parted ways with the Premier League side.
Relayed by AS, he said: “I would like to say goodbye to Arsenal playing since I couldn’t do it (last time)”.
The player admitted it would be ‘very beautiful and unforgettable’ if he were able to wave farewell to the Emirates faithful in person in London, and despite there being rumours something was being organised by the Premier League club, he admitted he was trying not to get too excited.
As for when he retires, he believes he will stay in football, ‘something more like a sports director than a coach’.
