Serge Aurier is no stranger to spats via the media.

The Tottenham player recently insisted that PSG is the club of his heart and he’d like to return to the French side at some point in his career. That led to him being blasted by French pundit, and former PSG player, Jerome Rothen, and the Spurs player then predictably hit back.

It’s a war of words which continues, with Aurier again sniping at Rothen on Monday evening, as he appeared in a question and answer session on Instagram.

RMC have picked up the comments, and the Tottenham player also spoke about why he moved to the London club. In 2016, Aurier was involved in a Periscope scandal, after being caught slating teammates and coaches, it was the beginning of the end for him in Paris.

The inevitable backlash towards Aurier in France hit his family hard, and asked about the period leading up to signing for Tottenham, the defender explained: “I have regrets about my family. My mother was not in the best condition during this period. I was prepared, but my family was not ready to to receive all this hatred. If I leave Paris, it is because in my head it was not going well. My family was not well.”

It was also because PSG were themselves ready for the transfer.
