Marseille midfielder Boubacar Kamara has been ‘scouted’ by Aston Villa in recent weeks ahead of him leaving the club on a free transfer in the summer.
The highly-rated Frenchman is set to be a free agent come the summer transfer window, with his current contract set to expire and no sign he will be extending his stay with the Ligue 1 club.
That means he can negotiate with whomever he likes at this moment in time and there is a long list of clubs reportedly looking at a move.
Aston Villa can now be added to that group, with But! Football Club reporting that the midfielder ‘has notably been scouted’ by Steven Gerrard’s side ‘these past few weeks’, with the player expected ‘to pack his bags’ this summer.
Now that is all they offer on the matter, so it’s not made clear if they’ve gone any further than scouting him at this point.
A move would certainly make sense, given there have been numerous reports about them potentially losing Douglas Luiz in the summer transfer window.
That would leave a hole in their midfield that they’d need to fill, and Kamara would certainly be a signing capable of doing that.
Whether Aston Villa could get him ahead of the competition, which is likely to be fierce, is debatable, but it seems they’re at least angling to be a part of the conversation.
