Manchester United have made contact with Paris Saint Germain over the possible signing of Lucas Moura, Sport Witness has been informed by more than one source.
After coming close to signing the Brazilian in 2012, Manchester United have been sporadically linked since. Lucas Moura was thought to be so close to an Old Trafford move that his appearance there in the London 2012 Olympics was excitedly welcomed by fans who expected to be welcoming him permanently shortly afterwards.
Manager José Mourinho is looking for a fast right winger, and given the difficulty in signing Willian from Chelsea, Moura is back on the agenda. The idea is to have the squad strengthened and full of options in order to fight for the Premier League title next season, and whilst Willian would perhaps have been Mourinho’s first choice, the manager isn’t prepared to waste too much time on a pointless chase.
Lucas Moura signed for PSG from Brazilian side São Paulo for €40m four years ago. The 24-year-old has finished the season with 19 goals and 6 assists, and is evaluating his options this summer. São Paulo would receive a kick-back from a possible deal.
Whilst Manchester United’s first steps are to find out the conditions, and plausibility, of a transfer, things could speed up if Mourinho narrows his options down.
