Everton and Juventus could be involved in a swap deal between Andre Gomes and Adrien Rabiot this summer.
That’s the claim from the website Juve Dipendenza, who suggest an exchange between the players as a solution that could work for everyone involved.
They explain that Rabiot is keen to leave Juventus this summer and the Italian side are happy to let him go if they can find the right financial fit.
The player is said to have submitted an official transfer request, and the Premier League is seen as his ‘last chance’ to be the player many believe he can be.
That could see an ‘exchange with Everton’ arrive on the table, which would see the two clubs swap midfielders and Gomes go the other way.
According to the website, it won’t be easy for Juventus to find suitors for Rabiot this summer, and the idea of a swap deal would ‘tease’ the Bianconeri.
Now, they say the swap is ‘Everton’s idea’, which would suggest the Toffees have proposed it rather than it being something that has simply been floated.
Anyway, the belief is that Everton could offer a ‘worthy contract’ to Rabiot while Gomes would be the right man to ‘dictate the timing’ of a midfield that needs it.
While his performances have gone downhill in recent years, and so Juve would have to be careful, it’s felt the move would very much appeal for the 29-year-old if it were presented to him.
Whether that happens remains to be seen, and we’ll certainly take this with a pinch of salt for the time being, given the source and how difficult a deal this would be to get over the line, but it is an idea that has now been floated nonetheless.
