Aston Villa star Douglas Luiz was interviewed this week by ESPN Brasil, talking about his season for the club and the midfield partnership with Jack Grealish.
First speaking of the great results they’ve managed to get this year, such as the 7-2 win over Liverpool and the 3-0 win over Arsenal, the Brazilian claims it only shows how balanced the Premier League can be.
“It shows that in the Premier League there’s no small team. I think that all teams have a very good level that can make good games”, Douglas Luiz told ESPN Brasil.
“So the result is the consequence of each team’s work in the game.
“As I said, it’s my second year here, I’m very young, I have a lot to learn. And I’m living a very happy moment in my life. Privileged for being able to play the Premier League.”
“Really, he is a different guy in football. I have a very good relationship with him, both on and off the pitch. I think he’s an exceptional guy. A hardworking guy too, who’s winning his place in the English team. I’m very happy for him, I hope he can stay on top for many years.”
As the English player uses his socks down, reporter João Castello Branco asked Douglas Luiz if it has something to do with his strong personality as well.
“He’s an exceptional guy, as I said, a very good guy. A cool guy, likes to play. I think he plays with socks down because his calf is too big. I think the sock doesn’t go up (laughs).”
In the same interview, Douglas Luiz was asked about Manchester City’s option to buy him back from Aston Villa. He claimed he’s aware of the clause, but is only focused on doing his best for Villa while his family and agents take care of other business.
