Ternana’s new coach Benito Carbone has told the Umbria media he won’t stand in the way of any players leaving the club if they want to go. The former Leeds United U21 coach was this week installed as the new coach of the Serie B side.
Ternana News have reported on comments Carbone made in his press conference when being presented as the next coach of Ternana. Carbone was asked if any of players would be leaving the club this summer following claims the likes of Leeds United linked forward could Felipe Avenatti move on this summer.
Carbone said as it stands nobody will leave Ternana until he gets to watch his squad. However, he also revealed that if any of his players do want to leave then he won’t get in the way.
“At the moment no one moves. They’re all important to me, I’ll evaluate them all, if they want to leave I can’t hold them back. Those who stay need to work for Ternana,” said the new coach of the Serie B side.
Leeds United have been linked with Avenatti since last summer, and in recent weeks there have been claims in Italy the Championship side have approached Ternana with regards to the Uruguayan.
The Umbrian club refused to sell the 23-year-old forward last summer, but after his disappointments of last season this time could be different.
Carbone is likely to be the key to any deal being done with Leeds United, although they will face competition from Serie A clubs to sign the South American.
