Frankly, the Catalan media won’t shut up about the prospect of Raheem Sterling moving to Barcelona in the winer market.
They’re now covering the potential move every single day, sometimes multiple times, and are utterly convinced the player wants to leave Manchester City and would be keen on a move to the Camp Nou.
Sunday is not a day of rest for the rumour, and today’s edition of Mundo Deportivo carries the claims forward. They say, again, that Sterling ‘wants to leave’ Manchester City, and add that his club are beginning to accept that.
Mundo claim that in the corridors of the Camp Nou they believe signing the player is a ‘viable option’ for Barcelona in the January window.
‘Everything seems to fit’ and a move for the City attacker is seen as more realistic than a swoop for his teammate Ferran Torres or RB Leipzig’s Dani Olmo. There’s optimism growing, misplaced or otherwise.
With it believed the Premier League champions will be asking for around €50m, it’s made clear Barcelona ‘cannot afford’ such an amount.
Therefore, and to the surprise of nobody, the Blaugrana would be looking for a loan until the end of the season, when they’d be willing to make the signing permanent.
Whether they’d be prepared, or even able, to pay €50m at the end of the current campaign isn’t made clear.
Mundo Deportivo say Manchester City are open to negotiating Sterling’s exit, but they won’t make it easy for Barcelona.
