Tottenham have not held any talks with Sevilla regarding Jules Koundé, despite reports to the contrary from around Europe.
That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who say sources at the club have denied any contacts with their Premier League counterparts.
Reports in England and Italy this week had indicated that Tottenham were lining up a move for Koundé and had even reached an agreement with Sevilla to make a deal happen.
That deal was supposedly a cash plus Davinson Sanchez arrangement, although it has since been denied regardless.
Similarly, reports in Spain today state that Sevilla have refused to open negotiations with Tottenham about a deal after speaking to Koundé and learning he simply wasn’t interested in the move because they’re not in the Champions League.
That should put an end to any notion of a deal happening this summer, but Estadio Deportivo have put another nail in the coffin.
They cover the rumours about Koundé and the fact ‘there are no end’ of reports about a potential move to Tottenham.
First and foremost, they point out that the player ‘gives priority’ to playing in the Champions League, and as such, that would rule out Tottenham anyway.
However, they add that they have contacted the Nervión club about the rumours and been told that everything published in England and Italy is practically a ‘lie’.
In fact, there has been ‘zero contact with Tottenham’ about the defender.
With that in mind, they say it is clear that Spurs, as well as any other suitors, will have to ‘bet even more strongly’ if they want to take the Frenchman this summer.
It seems, though, any attempts to get him have not actually been started, and reports saying they have are wide of the mark at this point.
