On December 1st, Moisés Caicedo publicly stated Manchester United are his “favourite team” and he also dreams of moving to a big league.
The 19-year-old currently represents Independiente del Valle in Ecuador, and in the past few days he has emerged as a transfer target for the Red Devils.
Over the weekend, journalist Marco Lopez Castillo reported the Old Trafford club joined West Ham United, RB Leipzig, AC Milan and Ajax in showing interest in the midfielder.
He also explained Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are set to have a meeting over signing the young player.
Tuesday’s edition of Ecuador newspaper Diario Extra brings the latest development on where Caicedo could play in 2021.
The report talks about Manchester United, Leipzig and Milan, and adds the latter have long been chasing the South American.
However, it’s the English giants who are ahead of Leipzig and the Serie A side in the race for Caicedo.
Diario Extra state the talks between Independiente del Valle and Solskajer’s side are ‘well advanced’, and ‘everything indicates’ Caicedo ‘will go to Manchester United’.
The Premier League side should pay $6m (around €4.9m) to complete the deal, and it’s claimed ‘what is offered by United exceeds’ what both Leipzig and Milan ‘intend to invest’.
If Caicedo ends up in Manchester, he will be the second player from his country, after Antonio Valencia, to represent United.
