It seems Leeds United target Tobias Figueiredo is really going to leave the Portuguese side Sporting soon.
As reported by Record today, it’s confirmed the 23-year-old is not in Jorge Jesus’ plans for the season and should be finding a new club.
The defender ‘may even play’ against Vilaverdense in the Taca da Liga tomorrow, but it doesn’t mean he’s staying, as ‘everything indicates’ a January move is happening.
Record points out the most likely way out is a loan deal, while the destination should indeed be England, even though the Elland Road aren’t mentioned directly this time.
The story may be exciting for Leeds United fans, but it’s still a little different from what has been initially reported.
When breaking the news last Thursday, A Bola claimed that the player should be moving on a permanent deal, with the Elland Road side paying €3-4m for him, after Leeds United had initiated contact.
Perhaps a loan offer is coming from a different club, as maybe a Premier League side could be more attractive, even with a temporary spell.
That said, Sporting’s fee ambitions always seemed on the high side for a player appearing mainly for their second strong, and a loan, try-before-buy, would make much more sense for Leeds United.
Record also reported a move for Tobias Figueiredo was likely a few days ago, and if Sporting and the player can find a reasonable destination, he’ll be leaving.
