Arsenal are looking increasingly likely to make a move for Real Betis midfielder Guido Rodríguez this summer.
That’s according to El Desmarque, who say ‘everything indicates’ that the Gunners will make an offer for the Argentine within the next month.
They explain that Betis will need to sell someone to balance the books this summer and one of the names that can bring a significant amount to the club is Rodríguez.
He has ‘grown a lot’ since arriving in the winter of 2020, and the club is ‘convinced’ they can receive an offer that will ‘generate added value’.
Such a sum would be used to improve the current squad and ‘give a break’ to the club’s accounts, so, therefore, would be more than welcomed.
And finding a suitor should not prove all that difficult either as ‘everything indicates’ that Arsenal will ‘carry out the attempt’ for Rodríguez in a month.
They’ve been linked with the midfielder for the last few months, with numerous reports in Spain making their interest clear and the player even acknowledging those rumours in March.
The midfielder has a release clause worth €80m, but Real Betis are already ‘giving signs’ that they want to do a ‘great deal’ with Arsenal for him.
There is no indication at what price they would be willing to sell, but it is made clear his current valuation is €18m, so it will be upward of that.
It seems unlikely, though, they would demand the €80m or that Arsenal would pay it, even if they did splash out on Thomas Partey’s release clause last summer.
Given Betis paid €3m to get 75% of Rodríguez’s contract just over a year ago, they are set to make a healthy profit regardless, and it’s stated that it could be a ‘good opportunity’ for them and the player with Arsenal lurking.
