With Valencia showing big interest in signing Bryan Gil from Tottenham Hotspur in January, local outlet El Desmarque today explains what’s stopping the transfer from happening for now.
They first claim that the winger is ‘on the table’ for the Mestalla side, as manager José Bordalas likes the player, and contacts have already taken place.
Valencia reportedly got in touch with Gil’s entourage and the 20-year-old is said to be already aware of the Spanish’s side wish of signing him on a loan deal.
The first one is said to be the arrival of Adama Traoré. In case they sign the Wolves star, then Gil would have even more competition in Spurs’ attacking sector and could find an easier way out.
Then there’s also the money issue. First with the salary, as it’s said Gil earns big wages in England which Valencia can’t afford.
Then, due to the money invested by Tottenham to sign the player from Sevilla last year, the London side could also request a fee for the loan. In that case, the move would be ‘almost impossible’.
‘Everything depends on Tottenham’, El Desmarque says, making it clear that Valencia won’t perform any miracles to convince Spurs to let Gil move.
