Galatasaray midfielder Mario Lemina, who’s currently on loan from Southampton, has given an exclusive interview to Turkish newspaper Hurriyet and expressed his desire to stay with the Super Lig club beyond this season.

After joining the Turkish club from Southampton last summer, Lemina has established himself as a key player under Fatih Terim and has said he would like to remain at Galatasaray.

When asked what his preference for next season would be, Lemina said he’s very happy to remain at Gala: “Playing for Galatasaray makes me very happy. Every day, I receive good messages from the fans. I love them. I’m enjoying playing for them.

“Do I want to stay? There’s no need to ask that question, everything is clear from my end. I want to be remembered as one of Galatasaray’s greatest players. Of course, I joined the club on a loan deal, but I hope it won’t continue like this.”

There have been recent reports that Southampton and Galatasaray have been in talks with regards to the future of Lemina.

It’s been claimed the Saints have dropped their asking price for the player, but the Istanbul side will wait until the summer to make their move.

The 26 year old has made 25 appearances for Galatasaray in all competitions this season, scoring one goal. His contract with Southampton will expire at the end of June 2022.
