On April 18th, we covered claims made in Italy which discussed Southampton interest in Fiorentina goalkeeper Bartłomiej Drągowski.
Less than a week later, Corriere Fiorentino explained the Saints are among the 24-year-old’s admirers and he has ‘suitcases ready’ to leave the Serie A side after this season.
Southampton continue to be named as one of the sides keeping tabs on the custodian for the upcoming window.
The Poland international has been restricted to only nine appearances in all competitions this term. After staying on the bench for close to two months, he returned to action in La Viola’s 2-0 defeat to Juventus in the second leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final tie on April 20th.
According to Firenze Viola, the keeper is expected to spend the remainder of the fixtures on the bench and then say goodbye to Fiorentina in the next window.
Southampton are tagged, as Ralph Hasenhüttl’s side, along with Borussia Dortmund and Napoli, have ‘asked for information’ about him.
As it stands, the report states that ‘everything is at standstill’. For Drągowski, ‘finding a team’ that is willing to ‘give him a million euros in salary is not so simple’.
Drągowski is likely to leave Fiorentina and with Southampton in the mix for his signature in the summer, it’ll be interesting to see where he ends up next season.
