Monchi was heavily linked to Arsenal repeatedly towards the end of his spell with AS Roma.
The Spaniard was sacked from his position at the Italian club, following which the reports linking him to the Premier League club only intensified.
Despite showing the “most interest” in securing his services, Arsenal were handed a blow as Monchi snubbed Unai Emery’s side and re-joined Sevilla.
This has forced the Premier League outfit to look elsewhere for the new director of football and Tutto Mercato Web in Italy claims they have now set their sights on Luis Campos of Lille.
Having worked at Real Madrid and AS Monaco in the past, Campos joined the Ligue 1 outfit in 2017 and has now reportedly emerged as a target for the north London club. However, Arsenal are not the only club chasing the Portuguese sporting director.
It’s explained that Chelsea were the first side to set their sights on the Lille chief, while Roma are also in the race for his signature as they’re in the market to find a successor for Monchi.
So far, Campos has emerged as a target for the aforementioned clubs and TMW claims ‘everyone loves’ him.
