When Adama Traore first returned to Barcelona, the Catalan media were falling over themselves to praise the player.
He got an assist in each of his first two matches, and it was seen as almost certain that Barcelona would keep the Wolves player beyond the end of his loan.
Since then things have changed, and Adama Traore has struggled to provide the end product for Barcelona, just as he did at Wolves.
There’s been no further assists, and no goals at all, with Xavi Hernandez gradually preferring other options. Over the past four La Liga matches, the 26-year-old got just 25 minutes and didn’t even get off the bench twice.
Barcelona are looking to sign Raphinha from Leeds United, and that would put more pressure on Adama Traore’s position. As would a renewal for Ousmane Dembele, with talks set to take place on that this week.
Sport say the situation is ‘more complicated every day’ for the Wolves player, and it’s made clear that Barcelona have no intention to pay a transfer fee for him. A swap with Francisco Trincao was mentioned repeatedly, but that now seems like a remote possibility.
