Everton have joined the list of clubs interested in a move for Bayern Munich striker Joshua Zirkzee.
Voetbal International report that Carlo Ancelotti and Marcelo Brands are ‘considering making a bid’ for the Bayern striker this month.
Zirkzee has found himself out of favour at the Allianz Arena this season, managing just three appearances in the Bundesliga so far despite shining for the club last season.
He’s keen to move somewhere he can get regular playing time and had looked set for a move to Eintracht Frankfurt before they changed tact and re-signed Luka Jovic from Real Madrid.
That has opened the door for Everton, who, alongside Club Brugge, are said to be looking at a deal for the 19-year-old.
The Blues are in desperate need of an extra striker to provide back up to Dominic Calvert-Lewin, with it clear Cenk Tosun is not that man.
Indeed, the Turkish striker has been linked with a move away this month, which would only increase Everton’s need for a replacement.
Zirkzee could be the answer to that, and the player is open to a move away from Bayern if the offer is there.
It’s explained that after tasting regular first-team football last season he is keen for more and so an exit has become a ‘serious option’ for him.
There is no mention of what sort of deal Everton would be looking at but reports in England have indicated a loan deal with an option to buy at the end of the season, which would make sense given the current financial situation at Goodison Park.
