West Ham United will face competition from Everton to sign Lille’s Amadou Onana in this window.

On August 3rd, La Voix Du Nord reported the Hammers have ‘come to an agreement’ with the midfielder and must agree a deal with the Ligue 1 side to carry out the transfer.

Everton’s arrival on the scene for the 20-year-old could complicate West Ham’s plans for him.

Journalist Sacha Tavolieri took to Twitter to explain the Toffees ‘will exceed West Ham’ to sign the Belgium international.

He says Frank Lampard’s side have made an offer of €35m plus €5m bonuses to Lille, but doesn’t mention whether this proposal has been accepted by the French club.

Onana, for his part, ‘wants to go to Everton’ and has ‘almost finalised’ personal terms with the Merseyside club. Tavolieri adds the case is ‘to be continued’, which may be related to the Goodison Park side trying to sort out an agreement with Lille.

Operating mainly as a defensive midfielder last season, Onana made 41 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals and an assist in the process.
