Everton are interested in a deal for Malang Sarr but face competition from West Ham United for his signature.

That’s according to Foot Mercato, who say the Toffees are the Hammers are part of a group of four Premier League clubs vying for the Frenchman’s signature.

With 11 days left of the January transfer window, his future remains in the air as he’s barely featured for his club this season.

He has a contract at Chelsea until 2025, though, and so it remains to be seen if he wants a permanent exit or just a temporary one.

If it is the latter, there are four clubs who ‘want him on loan’, and both Everton and West Ham are among them.

According to FM’s information, they are ‘interested’ in a deal for the 22-year-old as they look to bolster their squads before the end of the window.

Everton are in need of a centre half to cover for Yerry Mina, whose ongoing injury issues mean he has barely featured this season. West Ham, meanwhile, need cover for Angelo Ogbonna and Kurt Zouma, with the former’s long-term injury leaving them short.

It seems both teams have to convince Chelsea, though, as they ‘do not want to let go’ of the defender this month.

They believe he could ‘largely fill in’ at the back should they need him to, while his complete inoculation against COVID means he provides cover in case of any outbreaks as well.
