West Bromwich Albion are interested in a move for Everton striker Cenk Tosun, but face competition for his signature from Feyenoord.
That’s according to Algemeen Dagblad, who say the forward is ‘allowed to leave’ Everton in the January transfer window.
Tosun returned from a long-term knee injury earlier this year but has found playing time hard to come by at Goodison Park, with just four substitute appearances and 34 minutes of football in total to his name.
He remains firmly locked behind Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the Blues pecking order, and it has seemed likely that he could move in January as Everton look to raise funds and free up space on the wage bill.
Similarly, it is likely he would like a move to get regular playing time ahead of the European Championships in the summer.
A return to Turkey has looked the most likely option, with former club Besiktas openly declaring that they would love to bring him back to the club.
They now face competition, though, with AD reporting that Feyenoord are keen on his signature too.
They have found it ‘simply too difficult to score’ goals this season and would like a reinforcement in that position.
Frank Arnesen has ‘set to work’ on finding a solution, and one of them is Tosun, ‘who is allowed to leave Everton’, with the Dutch club looking for a loan deal.
They aren’t the only ones interested, though, with West Brom, who are now managed by Sam Allardyce, the man who signed Tosun for Everton, ‘also in the market’ for him.
It’s suggested that the approaching tournament this summer could tempt him to move to the Netherlands, although why that puts them ahead of West Brom isn’t mentioned.
Still, it seems if Everton want to get rid of Tosun in January they will have plenty of routes to go down to do so.
