Everton links with Lazio’s Luis Alberto go back towards the start of this year, with it being reported in Italy that Carlo Ancelotti was a fan of the player.
It was explained the manager was keen on the Spanish midfielder and ‘would see him gladly at Everton in the future’. Last week saw the rumour return, with Luis Alberto managing to find himself on the wrong side of those in charge at Lazio.
Players at the Italian club have faced a reduction in wages this year due to the financial impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, and the player criticised the decision to slash salaries whilst also investing in a new luxury plane for the Lazio squad.
This didn’t go down well and there’s been transfer chatter since.
Citta Celeste report a sale in one of the next two windows is a distinct possibility, regardless of whether Luis Alberto continues to be in the team.
Everton are said to ‘watch with binoculars’, ready to swoop should the situation present itself. Juventus and Inter Milan are also keen, with Lazio ‘ready to sell’ but not at a discounted price.
