Earlier this week, Fichajes.net reported Everton want to bring Iddrisu Baba to Goodison Park in January.
It was also explained Rafael Benítez has asked for the RCD Mallorca player, who has become ‘one of the revelations’ of La Liga this season.
The former Liverpool manager wanting the 25-year-old is now backed up by La Razón. In search of reinforcements for the Toffees, Benítez is looking at the Spanish league and has set his sights on the midfielder.
Baba’s current deal with Mallorca runs down in 2024 and includes a release clause of €45m. The Merseyside club have no desire to pay this figure.
Everton’s ‘intention’ is to sign the player for a ‘lower amount’ and the Spanish side are ‘open to negotiate’ for a price below his buyout clause.
The Ghana international arrived at Mallorca from Leganés and 50 percent of the fee from his future sale will go to the latter. La Razón stress Everton will have take this into account when tabling an offer for him.
Mallorca, meanwhile, intend to strengthen their midfield in the winter market, irrespective of whether or not Everton end up signing Baba. They have identified Njabulo Blom as a target and La Razón say his transfer can be sealed for €1m.
