Everton want to sign midfielder Thomas Lemar from Atlético Madrid this summer, but the Spanish club’s demands may scupper a move.
The World Cup winner has regularly been linked with a move away from Diego Simeone’s side after enduring a difficult time at the club since his arrival in 2018.
His situation has not improved despite efforts from both parties to make it work, with many feeling he simply doesn’t fit into the way the Argentine wants his team to play or the levels he demands from his players.
That, Le 10 Sport say, could lead to a ‘change of air’ this summer and according to their information, Everton have a ‘lot of interest’ in a deal.
However, any potential move would be ‘complicated’ for the Blues to get over the line as a result of Atlético’s demands.
The website doesn’t make clear what the La Liga side want for their man, but they say they are ‘greedy’ for the Frenchman, for whom they paid €70m to sign in 2018.
They imply Atlético want to recoup as much of that price as possible and that would make things difficult for Everton, who, while not short on transfer funds, don’t have an unlimited bank account either.
