Inter Milan are locked in negotiations with Tottenham over a deal for Milan Skriniar that would see Tanguy Ndombélé going the other way.

That’s according to Sky Sport Italy journalist Luca Marchetti, who says it is Spurs boss José Mourinho who is pushing the transfer.

Tottenham were first linked with a move for Skriniar at the end of last month, with reports suggesting he could be included in a deal for Ndombélé.

That was followed by a claim from TF1 journalist Julien Maynard who stated that Inter were keen on the French midfielder and were ‘accelerating’ their efforts to sign him and would need to include a player to get it done.

He didn’t reveal at the time who that player could be, with the likelihood being that Inter would have several options they could present to Spurs.

It seems, though, that the man they’ve chosen is Skriniar, at least according to the latest update from Marchetti.

“Skriniar is included in a negotiation at the will of Tottenham and José Mourinho,” he told Sky Sports, relayed by inter-news.it.

“It’s the exchange with Ndombélé, who is on the margins of the Spurs project but has always liked Inter.

“Among the Nerazzurri, the exchange with Skriniar is also privileged to keep up the value of the players.

“It’s important to understand who will make up the difference between the two clubs.

“Not an easy negotiation, a possible replacement for the Slovak could be Marash Kumbulla.”

The interesting thing about this is that it is Mourinho seemingly pushing the transfer, and that would make a lot of sense.

He’s never seemed all that keen on Ndombélé, having criticised him in public and so getting rid of him would be a logical step.

Doing so and getting a player like Skriniar, who is a vast improvement for Spurs’ defence, an area Mourinho will have identified as needing reinforcement, is likewise a smart move.

It seems, though, there is a gap between the clubs at present, and so this is a rumour to expect more of in the coming weeks as they presumably try to work that out.
