Everton have joined the race for the Ajax star David Neres, according to claims from Brazil this Friday.
Website UOL writes that the Toffees have been ‘gaining force’ in the battle for the winger, as he favours a move to the Premier League.
Everton have a good relationship with Neres’ staff, since they’ve already worked with them when bringing Richarlison and Bernard to Goodison Park.
The player’s agents are expecting the Premier League side to make a ‘convincing offer’ to take Neres out of Ajax, who are planning to make over €45m with the sale.
UOL says Ajax have already given the ‘green light’ for the player to move in the summer. Meanwhile, Tottenham have already told the player’s staff they’re ready to make heavy investments and give youngsters a chance next season.
But Everton shouldn’t have an easy path. UOL writes that Milan have also opened talks, while PSG made an approach as well. They also recall that Borussia Dortmund have been linked to the player too.
It’s made pretty clear that David Neres sees the Premier League as a ‘dream’ and a ‘next step’ for his career, so maybe the Toffees hold an advantage there. Model Kira Winona, who is Neres’ girlfriend, lives in London, which would be another factor attracting the player to England.
