Milliyet’s Besiktas reporter Serdar Saridag has spoken to Turkish TV Channel A Spor about the latest transfer developments with Oguzhan Ozyakup.
The player’s Besiktas contract officially expired yesterday but Saridag said Besiktas have secured his extension, so any interested clubs would have to pay a transfer fee to Besiktas.
Saridag was asked about Galatasaray and Fenerbahce interest in Ozyakup but said Everton are also an option: “People keep saying Fenerbahce and Galatasaray. I want to tell you, Everton. They are showing a strong interest for the player.”
“Everton board knows that Ozyakup has signed an extension with club. They are aware of the situation as they still want to bring him to the club. Ozyakup could be a very good player for Everton, we need to watch this space.”
Yesterday it was claimed in the Turkish media that Everton have made an offer for Ozyakup, which could see Davy Klaassen going the other way.
It didn’t make a great deal of sense, given that Klaassen was only going to be part of a deal for a player who should have been at the end of his contract.
With Marcel Brands now taking over and the old regime cleanly washed away, there has to be doubt whether Everton even remain interested.
