Everton still have Barcelona’s Jean-Clair Todibo on their transfer agenda after failing to land the defender in the winter market.
Over a week ago, we covered claims made by Sport that Carlo Ancelotti ‘wants to recruit’ the 20-year-old and the latter’s future points towards the Merseyside club.
Wednesday’s edition of the same newspaper has an update on the centre-back and also the La Liga winners’ stance on him.
Todibo is currently on loan at Schalke and the Catalan club’s idea is to sell him before the end of this month. The Bundesliga side’s last league tie of this season is on June 27th.
According to the report, the Toffees are ‘still the favourite’ to acquire the Frenchman’s services.
It’s claimed Ancelotti’s side are considering an offer of around €20-22m plus variables. The Spanish champions are aware that Todibo ‘arouses a lot of interest’, which is why they are demanding a fixed fee of €25m for him.
For his part, the player doesn’t wish to be included in an exchange operation with Juventus or Inter Milan and his priority is to make a switch to the Premier League.
Although Sport state Todibo ‘arouses a lot of interest’, there’s no mention of other clubs who have shown interest in him.
This could be a ploy from Barca to use the newspaper as a tool to put pressure on Everton to meet their demands.
