Remember that time when the Everton scout was in Italy and the local media started going crazy linking every possible player imaginable with a move to Goodison Park?
Well, some of those stories stuck, including an apparent interest in Napoli striker Duvan Zapata.
At the time, Carlo Jacomuzzi explained the Serie A’s club valuation of €25m for their fourth choice striker was ‘too much’ for Everton, but that hasn’t stopped Il Mattino on Monday throwing the Toffees into the ring once more.
Torino, Joe Hart’s former club, are also in the mix, and while Napoli are apparently still after €25m, no actual discussions have taken place to see if they would be prepared to accept a lower fee.
Despite the likely arrival of Sandro from Malaga, Ronald Koeman will probably be looking for another forward to go with the Spaniard, and Duvan Zapata would be a more direct replacement to Romelu Lukaku than the Malaga star.
The Colombian striker spent last season on loan at Udinese, scoring 11 goals in 39 appearances, as well as picking up five assists.
