Even though Yerry Mina’s job as a defender forces him to be a serious and tough guy during games, his personality off the pitch has always shown his other side.
The Everton defender is well known for his smile, dances and jokes, and now there are even more reasons to back up the idea he’s a nice guy.
News from Colombia this week show that Mina has been doing a lot for his people, and has now supported the creation of a education centre for the children of his home town.
As reported by Proclama de Cauca, the Mina Foundation has joined Compañía Energética de Occidente to build a room which will bring high technology equipment to help the education of the kids of Guachené.
“This year we want to expand coverage in education, so we want to take advantage of the computer room to call other children to be trained in systems. We also want to start teaching English, which is very important for their professional development and, at the same time, continue to generate participation in the sports field. We have to create the solutions,” said Mina.
“I try to convey this, so that these children do not get involved in problems, and do things correctly, have happy and rewarding lives.”
Besides the education centre, they’re also building a sports complex, which will include two football fields, a swimming pool and a basketball and futsal court. The facilities will be available both for the children from Mina foundation and for all citizens of Guachené.
