Regardless of what you think of the man himself, José Mourinho’s track record as a manager cannot be disputed.

Now at Tottenham after his sacking from Manchester United, the Portuguese manager is trying to steer Spurs back into the top four after their poor start of the campaign under Mauricio Pochettino.

To celebrate Mourinho, RMC Sport in France made a film about his life, set to be released on February 13th, where they appear to have interviewed some of his former players, releasing a clip of a chat they had with Anthony Martial.

Asked about the Special One’s time at Manchester United, the striker described his first few months under the now 57-year-old’s reign, during which the Frenchman struggled to get a start.

He said: “It’s true that I’d have preferred it if he’d told me directly, there’s no need to say it in front of everybody. After that, you definitely want to prove him wrong. He didn’t start me during the first few games and each time I came on, I scored.

“In the end, he told me: ‘You see, now you understand what I wanted’. It can get to you. You just want to show him you deserve to be on the pitch.”

A little insight into Mourinho’s mind games and motivational techniques, which is an often an area many have either praised or criticised him for over the years.

The reaction will entirely depend on the player’s personality, and it seemed to work for Anthony Martial during the manager’s early days at Old Trafford.
